Hyaluronic Acid is formed by skin cells and is part of the connective tissue of the skin. One of its key functions is to retain moisture, and it has the ability to bind in between 1,000 and 10,000 times its own weight in water (i.e. one gram binds between one and ten liters). As we age, the skin's natural ability to produce Hyaluronic Acid depletes and wrinkles start to form and deepen.
Glycolic Acid is a very common chemical peel used by many dermatologists. It is an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) or sugarcane derivative with an extremely small molecular size. It works by removing dead skin cells to even skin texture. The concentration of Glycolic Acid used in the Skin Refining Serum is a lower concentration than what is used in dermatological treatments for softer effects.
Lactic Acid (also known as Lactate) is part of skin’s Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) and a key component of skin’s protective acid mantle which regulates the pH value of skin. It absorbs and retains moisture within the outermost layer of the skin and so plays a vital role in skin condition. It is also comedolytic.
At what age should I start using Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Skin Refining Serum?
You can use this serum at any age. Many different factors such as lifestyle, genetics or environment can play a part in the aging process. However, many of us start to notice first signs of aging in our 20s. At this age, it’s common for skin’s natural hyaluron production to start to decline, leading to skin dehydration and first lines. At the same time, a decline in skin regeneration and in some cases overproduction of sebum can also cause large pores and dull texture. A serum like the Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Skin Refining Serum is excellent for treating fine lines, enlarged pores and unsmooth skin texture.
